Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our team. This role provides broad exposure to legal matters across the company and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working closely with our General Counsel. The ideal candidate will have two to four years’ experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and analysis of laws, regulations, and policies relevant to Urschel’s operations.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance, accuracy, and alignment with company goals.
- Support the development and delivery of compliance programs, employee training, and internal communications.
- Assist with litigation management, including discovery, case preparation, document review, and coordination with outside counsel to achieve effective, cost-efficient outcomes.
- Build and apply knowledge in core legal areas affecting the business, such as:
- Contracts
- Labor and employment law
- ERISA-based benefits
- Intellectual property
- International trade
- Product liability
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Real Estate
The position is NOT remote and will be required to report daily to the Corporate Headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana. Urschel employee-owners design and build industrial cutting equipment for companies worldwide from our corporate headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Required Skills:
- Ability to conduct in-depth legal research and produce clear, persuasive written materials;
- Capacity to analyze complex legal situations and provide sound legal counsel;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain legal concepts to diverse audiences;
- A meticulous approach to reviewing documents and managing legal workflows;
- Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks effectively, while balancing long and short-term legal projects; and
- Ability to support the day-to-day legal efficiency of the company by handling routine legal tasks and administration.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: JD Degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensure: Active admission to the Indiana State Bar.
- Experience: 2-4 years of relevant legal experience preferred.
