Metrology Technician (Internal Only)
Utilizes all manner of inspection tools to verify dimensional accuracy of production parts and custom-purchased supplies. Assists all levels of manufacturing, engineering, and production on the dimensional verification of in-house production components as needed. Document procedures, processes, and information reports and be able to communicate to multiple different departments.
CNC Lathe Machinist – 2nd Shift
A day in the life of a CNC Lathe Machinist involves machining features in all types of material, including castings and forgings, using CNC lathes and other machine tools. Understands CNC program codes and programs, has the ability to edit programs when necessary, and records all changes for documentation.
Infrastructure Manager
A strategic technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing scalable, secure, and efficient ERP solutions. This role ensures Urschel’s ERP system is optimized to meet business needs, integrates seamlessly with existing IT infrastructure, and supports future growth.
Senior Solutions Architect

Senior Product Owner

Precision Machine Operator – Milling – 2nd Shift
A day in the life of a Precision Machine Operator includes operating machine tools including, but not limited to, manual or CNC machine tools and ancillary equipment to machine parts from castings, forgings, fabricated parts, and bar stock. Uses various types of precision measuring instruments and gaging to verify and document inspections. Performs all necessary tasks required to complete the process.

Domestic Sales Coordinator
Serves as a technical contact for the North American sales force regarding parts, machine configurations, applications, and pricing. Performs administrative tasks associated with the selling of machines and handles all tasks related to the processing of machine orders. Addresses customer inquiries and complaints.
Vertical Grinder – 2nd Shift
A day in the life of a Vertical Grinder operates grinding machines to grind a wide variety of flat surface parts and materials to specific dimensions. Sets up and operates vertical rotary surface grinders, and selects proper grinding segments, speeds, and feeds best suited to accomplish jobs. Uses fixtures, gages, and other measuring instruments to hold close tolerances.

Local programs, such as the Porter County Career and Technical Center (PCCTC) and AK Smith Career Center, offer specific training to high school students interested in manufacturing, such as classes in Modern Machining Technology, computer-controlled machining (CNC), computer-aided design and machining (CAD-CAM), and quality control processes. Area programs offered at Vincennes University and Ivy Tech also offer manufactured-based technology classes and degrees. Urschel and the local career centers offer part-time work-study machining internships and Vincennes scholarship opportunities for students interested in a machining career.
