Electronics/CNC Maintenance Technician
A day in the life of an Electronics/CNC Maintenance Technician is installing and maintaining shop machinery and equipment, including mechanical and control repairs, hydraulics, pneumatics, security equipment and production systems.
Circle Knife Operator – 2nd Shift
A day in the life of a Circle Knife Operator includes making repetitive cuts to acquire accurate dimensions on a variety of circular knives, operating multiple machines simultaneously. Uses circle knife lathes, serrators, and straighteners to accomplish jobs. Uses all necessary types of precision measuring and gaging equipment.
CNC Lathe Machinist – 2nd Shift
A day in the life of a CNC Lathe Operator would machine features in all types of material, including castings and forgings, using CNC lathes and other machine tools. Understands CNC program codes and programs, has the ability to edit programs when necessary, and records all changes for documentation.
Mechanical Design Engineering Internship
Eligible candidates must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited University, with a major in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology and entering Junior or Senior level standing with a current GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Manufacturing Engineering Internship
Eligible candidates must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited University, with a major in an engineering discipline and entering Junior or Senior level standing with a current GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Materials Engineering Internship
Eligible candidates must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited University, with a major in Materials Engineering and entering Junior or Senior level standing (or Sophomore who has completed introductory Materials Engineering courses) with a current GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Trade Compliance Program Manager
Ensure compliance with global import and export trade regulations through development and oversight of corporate trade compliance strategies, policies and procedures. Support daily Sales, Customer Service and International Shipping activities.
Video Specialist
A day in the life of a video specialist will include assisting in the set up and teardown of lighting, grip, and camera equipment in a wide variety of video production environments. Assists in the operation of cameras and rigs during production. Adheres to structured formats during live productions.
International Sales Coordinator
This position will serve as a technical contact for the international sales offices regarding parts, machine configurations, applications, and pricing. Performs administrative tasks associated with the selling of machines and handles all tasks related to the processing of machine orders. Addresses customer inquiries and complaints.
CNC Lathe Machinist (Internal Only) – Day Shift

Production Scheduler
The Production Scheduler will work to optimize the sequence and timing of production work in process orders. Working with department supervisors and managers, the Production Scheduler will adjust shop floor production schedules to clear backlogs and maintain the flow of jobs through multiple manufacturing steps.
Tool Assembler
A day in the life of a Tool Assembler will assemble all types of tooling to support Urschel production machining departments using necessary tools and inspection instruments to accomplish these tasks. Responsible for inspection, repair and timely delivery of tooling to the machinist. Selection of the correct tooling components for the specified operation along with documentation of tool information. Experienced with precision gaging equipment along with sound understanding of machining practices, materials and software.

Local programs, such as the Porter County Career and Technical Center (PCCTC) and AK Smith Career Center, offer specific training to high school students interested in manufacturing, such as classes in Modern Machining Technology, computer-controlled machining (CNC), computer-aided design and machining (CAD-CAM), and quality control processes. Area programs offered at Vincennes University and Ivy Tech also offer manufactured-based technology classes and degrees. Urschel and the local career centers offer part-time work-study machining internships and Vincennes scholarship opportunities for students interested in a machining career.
