Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, has openings for Production Managers. A Production Manager will oversee production departments’ groupings, provide the leadership and support necessary for departments to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Urschel employee-owners design and manufacture industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries around the world from our global headquarters located in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis.

We are seeking results-driven leaders to oversee a multi-departmental production team with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency. They will lead cross-functional teams to meet production and inventory targets, apply Lean or QRM principles to improve processes, and monitor key performance indicators to ensure efficiency. A strong commitment to quality is essential, with oversight to ensure all outputs meet established standards. This role is responsible for fostering a culture of safety by proactively addressing risks and enforcing company safety policies. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on supervision, mentorship, and development to team members, promoting professional growth and performance aligned with company goals. The successful candidate will model professionalism and accountability, especially in high-pressure situations, while ensuring clear communication and adherence to company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including at least three years in a leadership role such as Production Supervisor or Operations Lead. A strong background in production planning, resource allocation, and capacity planning is essential, with experience in implementing lean or continuous improvement initiatives considered a plus. A high school diploma or GED, along with training in Lean Manufacturing or Quick Response Manufacturing Principles. Technically, the candidate should be proficient in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred), knowledgeable in manufacturing processes, quality assurance standards. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams). Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated expertise in leveraging process metrics and KPIs—such as cycle time, labor utilization rate, cost per unit, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) to identify bottlenecks, optimize workflows, and deliver measurable gains in efficiency, productivity, and cost savings.
