Primary Job Duties:
Grinds, sands, or polishes frames and/or fabricated sheet metal parts. Sets up and operates grinders, sanders, and pneumatic hand tools, and selects proper abrasive products for each operation. Repairs imperfections on frames and sheet metal by welding, and uses abrasive blasters to obtain desired surface finish.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, although other duties may be assigned:
- Interprets prints and set up cards to determine conformance of parts, positions frames or sheet metal part on grinding table, and selects proper grinding tools and grit of abrasive disks or finishing wheels.
- Operates grinder to polish, grind, or sand irregularities from surface.
- Performs welding repairs on frames and sheet metal and finishes light gauge weldments.
- Inspects parts to determine conformance with quality standards.
- Stores jigs and fixtures in assigned places.

- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED and/or minimum of one year of heavy manual labor or post high school training in manufacturing or engineering related disciplines.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and blueprints. Ability to create and interpret set-up cards, routine reports, and procedure documents.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math, such as addition, and subtraction.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to perform job by exercising proficient judgment, diligent attention to detail, and capable of comprehending written and/or oral instructions.
