The Metrology Technician utilizes all manner of inspection tools to verify dimensional accuracy of production parts and custom-purchased supplies. Assists all levels of manufacturing, engineering, and production on the dimensional verification of in-house production components as needed. Document procedures, processes, and information reports and be able to communicate to multiple different departments.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, although other duties may be assigned:
- Uses fixtures, gages, and other measuring instruments to inspect incoming custom purchased supplies.
- Programs and operates metrology equipment, including CMM and Faro Arm equipment.
- Works on assignments in cooperation with Manufacturing/Design Engineers, as well as with the QA department, on production gaging and inspection processes.
- Inspect production parts for dimensional accuracy and blueprint conformance.
- Assists and instructs others on gaging and inspection practices and procedures.

- Education and/or Experience: Three years of related training as it pertains to part measurement/quality control.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to the work situation and compute basic statistics.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to perform job by exercising proficient judgment, diligent attention to detail, and capable of comprehending written and/or oral instructions.
