Apple Cutting Machines

Hundreds of pounds per hour up to thousands of pounds per hour; capacities vary depending on condition of materials, method of feeding, and other variables. Where capacities are listed, it is assumed product will flow in a smooth, uninterrupted manner through an Urschel® machine that is in optimum condition. Capacities listed are an indication of potential results. Note: Ring slices can reasonably be produced with Urschel Models G-A, GKS-A and VSC by halving the product first perpendicular to the core line.

Below you will find our selection of apple processing machines. Each of the following fruit cutting machines offers different kinds of cuts.

Model CC    1/16 to 1/8" (1.6 to 3.2 mm) slices from whole or peeled, cored fruit. Parts are available for slice thickness up to 1/2" (12.7 mm). Use stainless steel slicing heads for either plain or crinkle cuts. Approximate hourly capacity of 1/8" (3.2 mm): 5,000 lb (2,300 kg).

Model G-A    1/4, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4" (6.4, 9.5, 11, 13, 16 or 19 mm) cubes, and pieces such as 1/4 x 3/8 x 1/2" (6.4 x 9.5 x 13 mm) or 3/8 x 3/4 x 3/4" (9.5 x 19 x 19 mm) from whole or peeled cored fruit. Approximate hourly capacity of 3/8" (9.5 mm) cubes: 12,000 to 14,000 lb (5,500 to 6,400 kg.

Model GK-A    Plain cubes and pieces, or cuts with 2 or 4 crinkle sides can be produced by proper selection of slicing and crosscut knives. Circular knives are suitable for smooth cuts only. Capacity and specifications are otherwise similar to the G-A Dicer.

Model H-A    3/4, 7/8 and 1" (19, 22 and 25 mm) cubes and pieces as large as 1 x 1-3/4 x 1-3/4" (25 x 44 x 44 mm) or as small as 1/8 x 3/4 x 1/8" (3.2 x 19 x 3.2 mm).

Model RA-A    1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4, 5/16 or 3/8" (3.2, 4.0, 4.8, 6.4, 7.9, or 9.5 mm) cubes and pieces such as 1/8 x 3/8 x 3/8" (3.2 x 9.5 x 9.5 mm) or 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/2" (6.4 x 6.4 x 13 mm) from fresh, canned or frozen fruit. Approximate hourly capacity of 1/8" (3.2 mm) cubes at high setting 10,000 lb (4,500 kg). Approximate hourly capacity of 1/4" (6.4 mm) cubes at slow speed: 5,000 lb (2,200 kg). Frozen fruit must be thawed or uniformly tempered to 25° F (-3.8° C) or above before dicing.

Note: Gentle cutting action of G-A, GK-A and H-A Dicers causes minimum juice loss and cell damage. Greater knife impact and generally higher operating speeds of the RA-A Dicer will result in greater product damage and juice release.

Comitrol® Processor Line    A wide range of particle sizes suitable for sauce preparation, pastry fillings, or juice extraction can be obtained from raw, canned, or frozen segments and pieces. Choose from a wide selection of cutting head opening sizes for particle sizes larger than 1/64" (0.4 mm). Use microcut heads for finest degree of reduction. Chop or grind apples to 1/4" (6.4 mm) or smaller and pump to the Processor for minimum aeration. Approximate hourly capacity: 12,000 lb (5,500 kg) using 9,390 revolutions per minute impeller speed and 30 horsepower motor.
